Oswald Avery 1944 – showed that DNA is the hereditary material through experimentation

Hershey & Chase 1952 Confirmed Avery’s findings that DNA is the hereditary material through experiments with viruses

Phoebus Levine Determined nucleotide structure Found that nucleotides link into long chains

Erwin Chargaff 1949 Found that A = T and C = G

Maurice Wilkins & Rosalind Franklin 1951-1953 Took x-ray pictures of DNA DNA is a helix Gave measurements for the molecule

Watson & Crick 1953 - Were the first to combine findings if the other scientists for the correct structure of DNA
