Reflection questions

Question 1 This product uses conventions. We chose a song that is very modern and is well liked by the teens of our generation. It has a soft beat that will give you a very call and relaxing vibe. It is also a type of song that has lyrics that will move you as well as give you a message you can relate to. This song is just like all of the other pop songs heard today.

Question 1 continued This music video represents social issues because of the plot of our story. The social issue would be relationship issues. In a relationship everything could all be going well and you are happy. That could all change when times get tough. The message of our story is, “You never know what you have until it is gone. There is also a hidden message in the music video. In the beginning of the blog there is a sign that says “Drive Safely”, this is a message that is well known due to the fact that there are a lot of reckless drivers in the world. At the end of the music video, the girl gets hit by a car.

Question 2 This project engages with audiences because it shows off a story that individuals could relate to, or have in the past. It is a story that consists of a plot that anyone could go through at some point in their lifetime. The audience could also engage with it by having to think about what is actually going to happen next. At the end of the video it could leave them thinking what really happened or what was the message of the whole story.

Question 2 continued It could be distributed as a real media text since it could be made into a magazine story. If the story was an actual real event it might be seen in a newspaper. This type of story is not something unusual. It can be seen in our everyday lives. This story actually sounds like something that would be reported as breaking news.

Question 3 Throughout this project my production skills have improved because before this, I had never even picked up a camera. My group members taught me how to function the camera. Without them I did not even know where the on button was, let alone how to film or view a recording. The next time we film I will be able to record more. During this production I only filmed the second to last scene; I believe I did pretty well.

Question 4 During this project technologies like a camera, a video editing software, and a blogging website were integrated. With the camera, we filmed all of the scenes necessary for our music video. With the camera we also deleted the scenes that were not beneficial to us. The video editing software permitted us to put all of our scenes together to finally make it look like a movie. It also allowed us to add effects in there as well as crop the videos to make it come together and flow like a music video. The blogging website is what was utilized to give updates on our filming process. When reading it, it is easy to understand how each week of editing went for us and understand the process of it all.
