Who is telling the story? Point of View Who is telling the story?

First Person Definition Clues A character in the story that tells the story to the reader. Uses pronouns: I, me, my, mine, we, our, ours   We only know what the character is thinking. Ex: Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children

Second Person Definition Clues The story/writing is from the perspective of “you”. UNCOMMON Used in things like manuals, recipes, instructions, and poetry Ex: Choose your own adventure stories, directions

Third Person Objective Definition Clues The narrator tells the story only through action and dialogue not characters’ thoughts. Uses pronouns: he, she, it, they

3rd Person Limited Omniscient Definition Clues The narrator tells the story from the viewpoint of one character. All their feelings and thoughts.
