The idea The short film will have a fixed narrative and will be centred on a teenager's day to day life. You see him go through the process of waking up for school, studying and rinse and repeat the next day. However, there is a voiceover throughout the film which involve certain themes that accompanies the character’s interaction whether he is listening to music or playing video games. The genre for this will be a drama.

My aim My aim is to showcase a voice of one’s mind of tackling the formulaic system which is the education system. I plan to show a series of montages where a voiceover will have some sort of correlation with what the character in the short film is doing.

Why did I decide to come up with this idea I believe gathering the overall consensus of what young adults like us think of the education system is important as it is an integral component for our day to day lives. It’s also a key to our future, however there isn’t always a certainty when it comes to securing something you desire. I also believe in voicing an opinion and showcasing it through any form of media. I want to make a visual representation of how the majority of us young people view the system we live in. I want to also bring awareness to freedom in terms of embarking into studying what you’re passionate about. As well as the reality we live in: showcasing that we’re never taught about the essential requirements to start our own lives. For example, applying for a mortgage and the importance of credit and how you handle it.

The research I will need to do I will need to research the overall consensus of what people think of the education system. Their views on university fees, the progression within entering higher education. The potential outcome and the affect that’ll on young people’s mental health. (THIS WILL ALL BE RESEARCHED ON GOOGLE, WHICH WILL BE MY SECONDARY RESEARCH) My aim with this is to condense all the ideas into my main character’s mind.

Lighting, Camera, Sound and Style of this genre Lighting: I will use studio lighting equipment in more up-close and intimate shots to shed some light on the main character’s facial expression whenever he is doing something. When it isn’t up-close I will be using natural lighting unless if I am in a dark area. Sound: I will be using a Rode mic attached on the camera. Camera: Canon 70D because I have more lens for it that are more compatible. Style of genre: It’s a dramatized showcase of a teenager’s day to day life and a strong examination of his state of mind.

Location Bedroom: For more up-close scenes to build a sense of comfort and a welcoming tone. Bus: To show most common transportation teenagers resort to the go to their destination. Coffee shop: To show the determination of doing independent work.

Filming I estimate the filming will take two days. I only estimate that just in case I need to reshoot if some shots don’t work well in the editing process.

Crew/Cast (who is doing what) Main lead: TBA but it will be a male. Crew: Savvik for technical stuff like lighting, audio, etc.

Equipment List/Props Rode mic. DSLR camera. Tripod. Filters. Props for example, stuff the main character would interact with like his own personal items for example, his phone. Costume design: His own clothing.

Editing style I will be using Adobe Premiere Pro to edit the film. Audition to work on the audio for ADR. I have not figured out the editing style I will incorporate apart from the cuts I will use. The idea for the editing will eventually evolve once filming is completed.

Sound effects I will be using Foley for the background sound for example, natural background noise. In addition, I will be using ADR for the voice over.

Potential problems I believe I will encounter potential weather problems but I think it would barely jeopardise production if filmed in more contained locations. My battery may run out on my camera so I will need to order a spare battery if I don’t have one already. I may forgot some things for e.g. props, I will have a checklist so this won’t occur during shooting days. If my main lead can’t show up I will either replace him or reschedule appropriately as there is a deadline.

Time table for production I will being shooting March 10th – 11th because it’s the weekend and nothing during the weekend will coincide with my schedule. In addition, shooting times will be during the day and night. This will allow me more time to edit the film.
