Tone and meaning Please note that if you do not put your name, exam version number, student ID number, and date on materials that are handed-in you may be subject to a 0 for the assignment. You MUST memorize your student ID number & put it on every exam. If your exam does not have this information, you will receive a ZERO!!!!! Could this be phrased to sound more positive and less attacking?

This could become… Please remember to put your name, exam version number, student ID number and date on materials that are turned in to receive credit for all assignments and exams. Without this information, credit will not be awarded. It still conveys the same info, but doesn’t sound as negative.

Another example of tone DO NOT COME TO ME WITH TECH SUPPORT PROBLEMS UNLESS YOU HAVE ALREADY CONTACTED TECH SUPPORT AND HAVE A CALL REFERENCE NUMBER. With all the online resources, it becomes very frustrating when students have tech issues, since faculty are not able to always assist, nor is EdTech or IT. How could we change this?
