Kindergarten Mrs. Gomez-Uranga and Mrs. Merrill Leap Day 2018 Kindergarten Mrs. Gomez-Uranga and Mrs. Merrill Welcome the students / parents. Introduce who is in the room. Parents don’t always know faces and names of teachers that have not had their children yet. Students: Show them your excitement about them coming! SELL!! Parents: Thank them for coming. You are excited to have their children next year. Remember – the best is yet to come!

Typical Day Prayer/Pledge Calendar Phonics Handwriting Math P.E. Snack/Recess Reading Groups Lunch Junior Great Books Religion SS/Science Pack/Dismissal MS – HS typical day MWF and T TH Lower school typical day. Insert of a “schedule” image would be great here!

Kinder Curriculum/ Subjects Catholic Formation Reading Writing Listening and Speaking Math Junior Great Books Special Classes Kinder Public Speaking Events Evaluations and Homework Add teacher names to give details – lets everyone put faces to subjects. Any other details to add about courses? Don’t forget specialists! Note frequency – once a week, 30 minutes, etc.

What should we expect? Prepares students to use phonetic skills to decode words and read with fluency and accuracy The children should spend 40 minutes on homework Monday to Thursday on math, phonics, and sight words. Parents will support reading at home and log reading minutes. The students participate in music, P. E., library, and art Reading groups promote oral and written communication Students are assessed and placed in leveled reading groups. Students are given responsibilities in their daily routine and are challenged with reading chapter books and The SRA comprehension program. Recess is at 11:00 – 11:30 and lunch is in the cafeteria from 1:00 – 1:30 snfpm and is supervised by teachers and parent volunteers. Some of this should come from your parent presentation at the start of the year. They don’t need details of folders home, etc. But overview type information.

Outside of the Classroom Athletics (PK4 – 4th grade = parent led teams through YMCA) After School Program What can they do outside of the classroom?? THINK! Check the website MS – HS: Ask D’Arcy to confirm.

What makes Kindergarten amazing? Zoo Field Trip Class Reports: All About Me, Saint Report, Show and Tell, Australian Animal Report Singing and Learning Sign Language for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and End of the Year Programs Unique and fun hands on activities during Apple, Pumpkin, and Christmas Week Special classes: Music, PE, and Library Kinder Rodeo What makes your grade / grades unique? Stand out from others at THS? Compared to other schools?

Re-Enrollment for 2018-2019 Re-Enrollment packet will be emailed to you. Re-Enrollment is February 5 – March 1. Seats are only held through March 1. No change in tuition for 2018-2019. Late fees begin on March 2. Watch email for more details!! Do not change this slide.
