What's the difference? Asylum seeker has come to mean a person whom the government has not yet recognised as a refugee under the 1951 convention. It is a human right to be able to seek asylum in another country A Refugee is defined as someone who’s application for asylum has been accepted by the government. They have been recognised as needing protection A Migrant is a person who moves from one place to another in order to find work An Immigrant is a person that leaves their country of origin to settle permanently in another country #BMEaware
