Student Conduct: Policies of Concern Unruly, Disrespect, or Disruptive Behavior in or outside class Violating of classroom policy (i.e –cell phone) Speech or Behavior which threatens or endangers the health/safety of any person Verbal abuse or bullying Creating or contributing to an intimidating or hostile environment..

The Professor: Minor and Moderate Issues Fill out a NOVA CARES REPORT: C-COMMUNICATE Give a warning and specifically address the issue with student I- INFORM your supervisor (academic Dean) A- Act 1. Fill out the NOVA CARES REPORT (FYI, Academic, Conduct) 2. send an e-mail to the student with CC Dean https://publicdocs.maxient.com/incidentreport.php?NorthernVirginiaCC

Student Conduct Process Informal Administrative Hearing Discuss the case, charges, rights, and responsibilities and possible resolution options with student Incident occurred Student Does Not Accept Responsibility (TWO OPTIONS) Student Accepts Responsibility Formal Panel Hearing Hearing w/ Dean

CONCLUSION: 5 Things to Remember 1. NOVA CARES Report must be filled out EVERY TIME 2. Student must receive some form of written notification 3. Student must have an opportunity to be heard

CONCLUSION… 4. Student notified in writing of decision and option to appeal 5. Student notified in writing of final decision
