Sentence Builders

Sentence fragments are only parts of sentences Sentence fragments are only parts of sentences. They do not give your reader a complete idea. Fragments make your writing extremely confusing to read. Since he came to New York. I have not seen him, since he came to New York. Unless you see me. Do not open the door, unless you see me! Because my dog loves it. We go for a walk everyday because my dog loves it.

RUN Sentences must have two parts! An Action RUN And something doing the action! George ran down the hallway because he was late for class!

Let's Try It! Tell what action is happening in these sentences: 1. Last week, I drove to the library. 2. The brown puppy yipped through the fence at the bike riders. 3. It is clear that cheating doesn’t work. 4. Chocolate is my favorite food to eat. 5. The new books are very exciting to read.

Fragment? You Choose! Sentence? Last week I walked home from school. Since the weather was rainy. With all of the books in my backpack. All of the players on my team. Scored the game winning goal. Be sure to check each group of words for an action and something doing the action!

Each of the following groups of words is a fragment Each of the following groups of words is a fragment. Experiment with different ways of fixing them by adding an action or a thing doing the action! Received a brand new drum set for Christmas. Since he had always wanted one of his own. Sitting around watching tv all day Johnny, who always loved the puppy. Aunt Sue, Uncle Sam, Fred and I. The Fix-It Shop!

More practice .... Last summer when we went to the beach. The stray cat with the orange and black stripes. Blowing across the dark street. As the children approached the closed doors. Turned the pool water green and slimy.
