His subspecialties are in skin cancers, phototherapy and psoriasis. Before entering private practice, Dr Lim was a consultant dermatologist in the skin cancer unit, and the psoriasis unit at the National Skin Centre, Singapore. In addition, he was a clinical tutor at the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore Dr Lim is on the Chapter of Dermatologists, College of Physicians Singapore and was an Executive Committee member of the Dermatological Society of Singapore. He is also a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK), a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (Dermatology) and a member of the International Society of Investigative Dermatology.
