Background for the workshop The children of “Drorim” class were collecting recycled materials like empty coffee boxes etc, for two weeks. At the end of the collecting procedure, the class teacher, Monika Chaimovitch invited the parents and the children for a workshop on behalf of opening the class library. The workshop concentrated on three issues: A. Music- The class percussion orchestra played with the musical piece” The whistler and his dog” /Pryior.The children know this music from their visit to the early childhood musical center. Along with that, they moved with different musical pieces which tells about the animals which are mentioned in the story. B. Literature- The Israeli children story:” Where is Pluto” by Leah Goldberg C. Recycling- The main topic of this school year in Israel is recycling and the environment. Monika, the teacher, in her own unique way integrated the three topics into one creative workshop and asked the parents and the children to invent musical instruments according to the story figures, out of recycling materials. Edit by Efrat Srebro
