Background America Saves is a cooperative agreement based on the contract with Office Depot, Inc. (formerly OfficeMax) and Oakland County, Michigan Procured through competitive bidding process with lead agency as Oakland County, MI No participation fees Eligible Agencies include K-12 Institutions and Systems (Public and Private) Higher Education Institutions and Systems (Public and Private) City/Local Government, Non Profits, Special Districts and other Public Agencies
Background Master contract allows the City to receive item discounts & includes a two percent rebate In general, discounts range from 30% to 50% To date, the City has received over $10,000 in rebates The America Saves contract is available for use through June 30, 2018 Expenditure Analysis (5 month snapshot) January 2016-May 2016: $142,600 January 2017-May 2017: $150,300
Expenditure by Category Technology: Accessories such as screen covers, USB drives, power cords, keyboards, mouse, cameras Office Essential: Anything that sits on a desk (stapler, paper clips…)
Recommendation The following four departments had significant increases: Health, Library, Planning, and Public Works Allocation increases include: Furniture, printer and toner It is in the City’s best interest to continue to use the contract as it provides efficient ordering procedures, and reduced pricing on office supplies
