Preparing for College Now Underclassmen Presentation

Plan your future with the YOU in mind Ask yourself- What kind of person am I? What do I enjoy doing? What don’t I enjoy doing? What are my favorite subjects? What am I good at? What things are most important to me? What kind of career do I want to pursue based on who I am? What major do I need get in order to have this career? What schools have this major? Which school is the best fit for me (in terms of budget, social life, distance from home and size?)

What Career Should you have? First consider what you like to do (Take career assessment) Secondly, consider what lifestyle you would like to have (where you live, how much money you make, if you have a family, ect) Then think about how much time and money you are willing to put into a career Lastly, consider the outlook for that job. Is there suppose to be more or less jobs available once you would graduate? Gave a 15 minute career assessment and talked about the student’s results.

Grades Matter Now The grades you make now affect your overall GPA. Trying in your classes now means more opportunities and scholarships later. Better grades are the best and easiest way to get money for college!

Start thinking about the ACT The amount of money that you get for school is directly related to your test scores. Making the benchmarks are important to what classes you have to take in college. The ACT effects what colleges will accept you. There are free practice tests and workbooks available.
