ACTvF Lights, Camera, Action! Jonathan Stampfl Entertainment Technology, NYCCT, Brooklyn New York 11201 The Project Pre Production Making a schedule, contacting people to be part of your documentary, developing questions to ask . Production Interviewing your candidates, B roll footage, establishing the location your in, getting the best quality you can for your shoot. Post Production edit your film, creating a story that makes sense, using your footage to tell the story you envisioned. Introduction I attended the Academy for Careers in TV and Film High school. My high school teaches students all of the basics to how film production works. The students shoot their own projects and then edit them as well. The students learn and take on many different roles such as director, camera, sound and lighting. As the students advance in their grades they begin to learn more in depth jobs and the projects become more advanced. They also get to work with more advanced equipment compared to what they begin with. I wanted my film to show how my high school to reacting to the industry by preparing students at a younger age for how the industry works. I also wanted to show insight on alumni to see what they are doing with there life after leaving high school and if they still use the skills they were taught. Schedule/Timeline June June 9th – Have the entire interview questions finished June 23rd – Know who and where you will be interviewing people June 30th – Have all of the equipment that I will need for this project August August 26th – Interviews should begin on this date September September 23rd – Interviews should be half way done by this point October October 21st – All interviews should be done by this point October 23rd – Editing should begin on this date November November 21st – Editing should be half way done December December 4th – Editing should be done and project should be ready to turn in. Conclusions I started out on this project as a way to see how my high school the academy for careers in TV and film changed the life of students post graduation. I did accomplish that, but through the interviews I learned that it showed that my high school taught these people skills that can be used the rest of there life. It showed that the school just wasn’t about teaching kids about film and how the industry works, but how jobs work in general and we all got a head start to be more prepared for when we start working either in film or another job. It’s mentioned in my film that everyone felt the most important skill that was taught at my high school was teamwork, which is probably the most important skill we could have learned because there is no way to really function in this society without teamwork. Teamwork is the fundamental of how you succeed in this day in age. So my film started out on showing how people are functioning post high school and soon to be post college and the answer I received was the teamwork they were taught at academy for careers in TV and film. Equipment Canon XA10 HD Professional Camcorder Magnus VT-300 Tripod Lavaliere Microphone Head Light for camera 2 SD cards *All of the equipment was donated to me by my brother Acknowledgments I would like to thank Professor Ryoya for advising me with this project. I also want to thank everyone who was interviewed for being a part of my project. I want to thank my high school Academy for Careers in TV and Film for letting me film there and being the inspiration for my project. I would also like to thank my brother for letting me borrow his equipment for this project. Results . Interviews were conducted in a great manor . I learned how important a directors job while filming this project . I also learned more about working with the camera and sound . Some interviews were canceled because of scheduling but I was able to think on my feet and get other footage to replace it . Overall the documentary turned out really well , with minor problems or mistakes. Challenges There were many challenges while shooting this documentary. . The number one issue was scheduling and shooting according to other people’s schedule. 2, Another issue was working with mic”s and making sure the sound quality was good on the footage. 3, Another challenge was basically doing every job on a film set like camera, sound and lighting and then taking that footage to make sure it matches your vision as a director as well. For further information You can contact me at Jstampfl1124@gmail.com Hypothesis 1. How is my high school reacting to how the industry works? 2. I want to shoot a documentary showing how my high school will cause the industry to evolve by having younger people coming in to the industry having the knowledge of how the industry works. 3. Use my film to make people aware that the industry is changing.
