Bible The Living Word of God

God “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1: 1) God

When we speak of the living WORD of God, we presuppose that God is speaking to us. And the WORD of God is above all the other words.

The Word of God is a love letter, a message which involves us in God’s redeeming love. We turn to God in our needs, and God responds.

The Word of God was at all times, a concrete message for concrete people in concrete circumstances.

In his Word God grants healing, hope, forgiveness, reconciliation.

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my Words will not pass away.” Mt 24: 35

Though the grass withers and the flower wilts, the Word of God stands forever. Isaiah 40: 8 Stands forever

“So shall my Word be that goes forth from my mouth; it shall not return to me void, but shall do my will, achieving the end for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55: 11 achievement

“The Word of God is alive and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword… and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.” Heb 4: 12 Alive

truth “Let the prophet who has my Word speak my Word truthfully.” Jeremiah 23: 28 truth

instruction, from his mouth, and lay up his Words in your heart. Receive instruction, from his mouth, and lay up his Words in your heart. Job 22: 22

A sower went out to sow his seed “The seed is the Word of God... As for the seed that fell on rich soil, they are the ones who, when they have heard the Word, embrace it with generous heart, and bear fruit through their perseverance.” Lk 8: 11-15 A sower went out to sow his seed

“You have been born anew, not from perishable but from imperishable seed, through the living and abiding Word of God.” 1 Peter 1: 23

“Everyone should be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath “Everyone should be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath... Therefore put away all evil excess and humbly welcome the Word that has been planted in you and is able to save your soul.” James 1: 21

“One does not live by bread alone, but by every Word that comes forth from the mouth of God.” Mt 4: 4 life life life

freedom “If you remain in my Word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8: 31

“What was in the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have touched with our hands concerns the Word of life. That life was made visible; Jesus We saw it and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was made visible to you.” 1John 1: 1

“Amen, Amen I say to you, whoever hears my Word and believes in the one who sent me has eternal life.” John 5: 24 pat

“Father, I revealed your name to those whom you gave me out of the world. They belonged to you, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your Word.” John 17: 17 faithfulness

“Consecrate them in the truth. Your Word is truth.” John 17: 17 Truth

“…They received the Word of God with all willingness.” Acts 17: 11 Readiness

abides “The Word is near you. In your mouth and in your heart.” Rom 10: 8 abides

inheritance “And now I commend you to God and to that gracious Word of his that can build you up and give you the inheritance…” Acts 20: 32

“You shine like lights in the world, as you hold on to the Word of life…” Ph 2: 16 shining

“Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly, as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another, singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” Col 3: 16 gratitude

“I did not consider myself worthy to come to you; but say the Word and my servant will be healed” LK 7: 7 healing

Peter answered Jesus, “Master, to whom shall we go Peter answered Jesus, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the Words of eternal life.” Jn 6: 68

“Whoever keeps his Word, the love of God is truly perfect in him “Whoever keeps his Word, the love of God is truly perfect in him.” John 1: 2: 5 Love

Jesus was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside and they wish to see you. He said to them in reply, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the Word of God and act upon it.” Lk 8: 20-21

Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hear the Word of God and observe it Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hear the Word of God and observe it.” Lk 11: 28

“In all circumstances, hold faith as a shield, to quench all flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.” Eph 6: 16-17

“We give thanks to God, that, in receiving the Word of God from hearing us, you received not a human word but, as it truly is, the Word of God.” 1 Thess 2: 13 Thankfulness

“I write to you, young people, because you are strong and the Word of God remains in you, and you have conquered the evil one.” 1John 2: 14

Sing to God “Sing to God a new song; skillfully play with joyful chant. For the Lord’s Word is true; all his Words are trustworthy… By the Lord’s Word the heavens were made.” Psalm 33: 4-6
