We Wear the Mask (10th) Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9nnVmkL_ig As you watch the video, carefully examine the pictures. In the reflection section answer the following questions: What is the debt we pay to human guile? Why does the author contrast the following: “We sing, but oh the clay is vile”? Name three people/characters that wear an “actual mask. Explain why you think they wear a mask. When you have finished with the reflection. Please begin working on coming up with Opening Questions (Level 1), Core Questions, and Closing Questions. Refer to Green House for help.

Self-Perception - How I See Myself The purpose of this exercise is to give you a chance to take a look at yourself: How you currently see yourself, how others see you, and how you’d like to be seen. Cut out words. Put cards in a way that best describes you AS YOU ARE NOW on top, the one that next best describes you immediately below it, and so on until the card that you feel is most unlike you is at the bottom. Then copy the list on the “How I See Myself” column. Shuffle cards again.

How I Want to See Myself Re-arrange them so that the card on top best describes how you would like to see yourself. Copy your lists on the “How I Want to See Myself” column. Circle any items that are more than four spaces (lines) apart on the two tables. Highlight the items that are the farthest apart on your first two lists. These highlighted items might suggest some areas you want to change. Shuffle Cards

How do Others See Me? Next, tell students to ask a friend to arrange the cards according to how he or she sees the student. The friend needs to give an honest evaluation. Once the friend has completed the process, students copy the list on the “How Others See Me” column.

How Does My Family See Me? Take the cards home and ask a family member (parents are a good source) to arrange the cards according to how he or she sees them. Once the family member has completed the process, students copy the list on the “How Does My Family See Me” column. Then, they circle any items that have moved four or more spaces from their “How I See Myself” column.

Preparation for Socratic Seminar I need two questions for Level. (Level 1, 2, 3) = Total of 6 Questions. Questions can be directly related to the activity and/or questions can also be about related issues, such as school. Answer the following questions under reflection: “How does my self-perception affect how I think about myself”? “What does our school value as the most important character trait? “What should be important traits to us?”
