Using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC INTRODUCTION Using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC

What is Acrobat Reader and how does it differ from Adobe Acrobat? Acrobat Reader is part of a family of applications, along with Web-based capabilities created and owned by Adobe Systems that will allow you to view, manipulate, print, and manage files in PDF (Portable Document Format). How does Reader differ from full Acrobat? It differs in that many of the modules found in Reader are only available in full Acrobat. Example: You have multiple PDF files that you would like to organize into one PDF. At the same time, you would like to create a Clickable Table of Contents. These two items are ONLY available on the full Acrobat software and not available in Reader.

What Platforms can you use Acrobat Reader on? You can create and read Acrobat Reader files, AKA PDF files from all computer options (PC and Mac), smart phones (iOS, Android, and Windows), along with tablets (iPad, Android, and Windows). Not only is Acrobat Reader available as a software choice from the Adobe company, but third-party companies, who have developed the tools to allow individuals the capability to read PDF files.

Creating PDF Files Today there are many ways to create PDF files. You can have apps on your phones and tablets that allow you to create PDFs for just about everything from Web pages to objects located on these devices. Within Microsoft Office applications, when you “Save As” an item, whether it be Word, Excel, Visio, etc., you can use the pull-down options in Save As to choose PDF as that option. You can also use the Print choices and “Print to PDF.” Realizing there are so many ways to create PDFs allows you to create them and share the information with anyone you choose!
