Primary Newsletter – Friday 12th January 2018 HOME SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP As we begin this new year and new term, we look forward to seeing our children grow and become even better learners. We can help our children to do this by home and school working together and providing the necessary support. Many thanks to those parents who attended our ‘Meet the Teacher sessions this week. We really hope that you found them useful. Please do take the time to complete the parent questionnaires that were sent home this week. We would really like to know your views on the school and value your feedback to drive improvement. YEAR 5 TRIP TO THE SCIENCE MUSEUM Year 5 had a lovely day at the Science museum this week to enhance their learning in their science topic on Earth and Space.  The children had the opportunity to look at exhibits about the history and development of space exploration.  They also watched a film at the IMAX, looking at life on the International Space Station. "I loved the IMAX experience, It was a very interesting and informative. I learnt a lot.” Arjun 5W “ I enjoyed my experience at the wonderland because we got to try out some experiments” Eryn 5W "I enjoyed the 3-D movie it was mind blowing because it felt like we were in the International Space Station."  Paapa 5E "I  found the trip very exciting and eventful.” Nadine 5E “ I enjoyed watching the amazing lives and experiences of the crew members on the International Space station." Vinayak 5W RECEPTION PLACES SEPTEMBER 2018 If you have a child born Between 1st September 2013 and 31st August 2014, they are due to start school in reception class in September 2018. The closing date for applications is 11.59pm, on 15 January 2018. Applications for primary school places are made online via the London Grid for Learning's website at www.eAdmissions.org.uk. If you have not yet managed to submit an application for your child and would like some help, please do contact the school office and we will be happy to assist. YEAR 6 PARENTS’ EVENINGS  Just a reminder that will are holding extra parents’ meetings for the parents of our Year 6 children on Monday 15th January and Friday 19th January 3.45pm – 6.30pm. These meetings are vital at this stage of the year to look at the individual progress of the Year 6 children and what they still need to learn to be successful in their SATs tests in May. Parental involvement in their children’s learning is pivotal to their success, so if you are a parent of a child in Year 6, please do try to ensure that you attend your allocated appointment. CONGRATULATIONS Well done to Juan Andrés in Year 2, who has been spotted by a talent scout and has Been invited to join Chelsea Football Club’s development centre. We are very proud of you Juan Andrés.

Epiphany, or Three Kings’ Day. is a Christian holiday that celebrates three events: (1) the arrival of the Three Wise Men, in Bethlehem to see the baby Jesus, (2) the baptism of Jesus, (3) Jesus’ first miracle. Lord God of heaven and earth, you revealed your only begotten Son to every nation by the guidance of a star. Bless our homes and all who inhabit them. Fill us with the light of Christ That our concern for others may reflect your love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.   Class of the Week. Class: 5E Pupil of the Week.
