Science Workshop Years: Nursery- Year 6

Science has returned to being a core subject Science will be reported alongside Maths and English levels at the end of key stage 2. Science is one of our school priorities this year within all year groups as a reflection of this change.

Vocabulary Using Science vocabulary in lessons is of high importance so that children can demonstrate their understanding of scientific concepts. Practising the use of vocabulary linked to scientific topics at home will help your children in lessons.

Practising vocabulary at home There are many ways of practising the use of science vocabulary at home: Using websites linked to their topic of the term (found on curriculum map) Oral games such as: true of false, odd one out or missing word in the sentence Recapping what the children did or learnt in their lessons using labelled diagrams or orally retelling.

Simple experiments at home There are lots of simple experiments you can try at home with low costs that would allow the children to practise using scientific vocabulary and explore first hand new scientific concepts. http://redtri.com/classic-science-experiments/slide/1 https://sciencebob.com/category/experiments/ 5
