The ONLY part of the project meant to be done with other people is the scenes. Everything else is done INDEPENDENTLY!

EVERYTHING must be TYPED! This is a major grade and you have weeks to do it; your BEST work should be reflected! Everything should be neat and organized.

Costume When wearing a costume for a scene, it must fit the character. Do not wear something flashy for the Nurse or the Friar, for example. Take into consideration social class and what you have seen in the movie.

Costume Design Romeo, Lord Montague, Lady Montague, Benvolio, Mercutio, Friar Laurence, Juliet, Lord Capulet, Lady Capulet, Nurse, Tybalt, Paris

Soliloquy or Monologue Check it with me to make sure you have chosen something long enough. Decide whether or not you are performing for me or the class. Make an appointment. PRACTICE!

Rewriting Keep the context. The only scene you can change the plot in is if you rewrite Act 5 to have a happy ending. Otherwise, the purpose of rewriting is to use modern language to replace the Shakespearean language. This must be YOUR WRITING. Do not cheat and use No Fear Shakespeare, Spark Notes, etc. Plagiarism results in a ZERO for the ENTIRE PROJECT!

SONNET Must be ORGINAL and follow a sonnet rhyme scheme. Must fit the definition of a sonnet and be about the play. Must be typed. Do not plagiarize any part of it.

Letter to Lord Montague This needs to be in letter format. (Dear Father, Sincerely, Romeo) It must be typed. It must be full of all of the things Romeo would have had to say to his father by that point in the play. Use Romeo’s “voice.” It does not have to be Shakespearean dialect, but I also do not want 2017 teenager. Formal writing.

Soundtrack Here is a sample entry: “I Will Wait” – Mumford & Sons: This would play as Romeo is leaving Juliet’s room in Act 3 Scene 5. The lyrics are about waiting forever for the one the singer loves. Juliet and Romeo are promising each other to wait for the time they can be together. Title: Artist: Where in the play it fits: Why it fits: Typed DO NOT SKIMP ON THIS! It’s easy and you need to earn all of the points!

Newspaper Look at the samples I have in the classroom. Must be typed. Must look like a newspaper. Variety of articles, pictures, etc. This is for 100 points, so it requires a tremendous amount of effort. I can look at a rough draft to tell you if there is enough. Do not under-do this one!

Food dish Research it – include a typed recipe and a paragraph of what you learned about the dish during your research. Bring with proper utensils to share.

Mural or collage Artistic and creative DO NOT PRINT PICS FROM VARIOUS VERSIONS OF THE MOVIE! Other than that, you have creative freedom – but it all should relate to the play.

Letter to Shakespeare Typed Specific One full page What did you like and not like about the play

Book cover Front has picture, inside flap brief synopsis of play, inside back flap has author info, and the back cover has quotes from people who have read the book - use your friends or make them up.
