Sometimes, you have to change some letters You change the “y” to an “i” and you add “es” You do this for words that have a consonant right before the “y” in a word Vowels are………………..A, E, I, O, U Consonants are……………..all of the other letters So………………….

Here is how we would make these words plural--- baby……………………………………babies lady…………………………………….ladies city…………………………………….cities

If you just add an –s, -es, or change the “y” to an “i” and add –es, the words are said to be REGULAR plural nouns

But ….there are the “trouble-maker” words These are called IRREGULAR plurals because They don’t follow the rules! Look out for them because they are EVERYWHERE…just waiting to try and see if they can trick you!
