GENETICS C-NOTES

The study of how traits are inherited and passed down from parents to *What is “genetics”? The study of how traits are inherited and passed down from parents to offspring.

How are genes passed down? In sexual reproduction, both parents pass the genes for traits to their offspring. 50% male- sperm 50% female- egg

What is a gene? A segment of DNA that contains information for specific traits GENETIC TRAIT- a characteristic passed on from a parent to offspring.
