Persuasive Strategies

Ethos Appeal to the authority or honesty of the presenter Uses credibility to convince the audience “In my many years as a medical professional…” I use this product everyday, and it’s worked wonders for me…

Pathos An appeal to the audience’s emotions Uses emotional response to persuade How many more innocent people need to die before we do something about gun violence? You’ll make the right decision because you have something that not many people do: you have heart. Won’t someone think of the children?

Logos An appeal to the audience’s logic Uses reasoning to persuade the audience More than one hundred peer-reviewed studies have been conducted over the past decade, and none of them suggests that this is an effective treatment for hair loss.
