EPHESIANS 4:31-32 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

MATTHEW 6:12 12 and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.

MATTHEW 6:14-15 14 “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. 15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.

COLOSSIANS 3:13 13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

THREE LEVELS OF FORGIVENESS: Level one – A willingness to not try and even the score. Level two – A willingness to let go of bitterness and hatred. Level three – A willingness to be reconciled with the person who hurt you.

Colossians 1:19-22 19 For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, 20 and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. 21 This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. 22 Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.

Put it this way: Forgiveness requires one person but reconciliation requires two.

Put it this way: The degree of reconciliation requires both forgiveness from the offended and repentance from the offender.
