History: Cricket is a bat-and-ball team sport that is first documented as being played in southern England in the 16th century. By the end of the 18th century, cricket had developed to the point where it had become the national sport of England. The expansion of the British Empire led to cricket being played overseas and by the mid-19th century the first international matches were being held. Today, the game's governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC), has 104 member countries

Events Test cricket is the longest form of the sport of cricket. It is generally considered the ultimate test of playing ability and endurance in the sport. One Day International (ODI) is a form of cricket, in which 50 overs are played per side between two national cricket teams. The Cricket World Cup is played in this format. One Day International matches are also called "Limited Overs Internationals (LOI)", because they are limited overs cricket

Olympics and World Championships The ICC World Twenty20 or the ICC World T20 also referred to as the T20 World Cup is the international championship of Twenty20 cricket. The event is organized by the sport's governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC). The tournament consists of 12 teams and is contested by all Test-playing nations plus qualifiers. The event is held every two years.
