Field of Play and Equipment Where: Rec Courts 1 and 2 (upstairs) Goal size is 3M wide by 2M tall (9.8 ft wide by 6.6 ft. tall) Players are recommended to wear shin guards (covered by socks) and appropriate footwear (e.g. indoor soccer shoes). Cleats will not be permitted. Pinnies will be provided. No player will be permitted to participate if wearing any type of cast or brace with exposed metal. No jewelry may be worn during play (this includes earrings, necklaces, bracelets of any type, etc.)
Players on the field Max players on field: 5 vs. 5 Each team can sign up to 3 additional players (maximum roster is 8 players). There will be one goalkeeper and four field players on the field at a time.
Substitutions (1/2) Substitutions will be made “on the fly”, with no limit Exiting players must be fully off of the playing surface prior to replacement players entering the field. Players must exit and enter the field near the half- way line.
Substitutions (2/2) Illegal substitutions will result in a indirect free quick wherever the ball is, and the team playing one man down for 1 minute or until they get scored on, whichever occurs first. Subs must remain behind goals due to limited space on the sides
Referees/ Referee abuse/ Protests (1/3) Any abuse (physical/verbal) of a referee prior, during or after a match may result in the team, player or team follower being expelled from the Tournament area. There are no protests. All decisions of the referee are final. Players who disregard the rules will first be given a verbal warning unless the act is extensive in nature (which would result in an immediate card rather than a warning). Every warning there after will result in possibility of the issuance of a card at the referee’s discretion.
Referees/ Referee abuse/ Protests (2/3) Any player receiving a red card (including 2 yellows = red) will be ineligible for the next scheduled match. In the case of a serious offense, the tournament director will review all red cards, which could result in the team or player being expelled from the Tournament. Players guilty of serious foul play, violent conduct, spitting at an opponent or any other person, or using offensive, insulting, abusive language/gestures, shall be sent off (red carded) and play no further part in the tournament.
Referees/ Referee abuse/ Protests (3/3) In case of a red card, a substitute player is permitted to come on 2 minutes after a teammate has been sent off, unless a goal is scored before the end of the two minutes. At the referee’s discretion, if one or more players are being excessively aggressive, either towards the opponents or the referee, the referee can send such players out for 2 minutes, with a substitute being allowed to come in immediately.
General Game Rules 1 All players are required to display good sportsmanship before, during, and after the game. Games length will be 2 half of 12 min each, with a 3-minute break. The Referee and Timekeepers are responsible for the official time on the field. Referees are instructed NOT to add on any “extra time” for any reason. If the game is stopped for a long time for some reason, it is at the referee’s discretion to stop the time or not. Game starts with a kick-off, which shall be indirect and may go in any direction. There is NO off-sides.
General Game Rules 2 Fouls may result in a direct or an indirect free kick with the opponents 5 meters (5.5 yards) away (or on the goal line, for kicks less than 5 meters from the goal line). A direct free kick inside the goalkeeper box results in a penalty kick. A penalty kick in this tournament is a free shot from edge of the goalkeeper box with no players inside the goalkeeper box. No slide tackling if an opponent is challenging/playing the ball. When the ball goes out, it is played back in through a kick in, where the ball must be stopped and placed on top of the court line. Goalkeepers have only four seconds in which to play the ball, with either their hands or feet. Goalkeepers are also free to play anywhere on the pitch and throw the ball beyond the halfway line, but cannot touch the ball with their hands if it has been deliberately played to them by a teammate without an opponent touching it.
Forfeits A forfeit will be recorded as a 5-0 win or the highest goal difference recorded in the tournament. A forfeit will occur if one team isn’t present 3 minutes after their scheduled game time. A team shall be allowed a three (3) minute grace period after the scheduled kick-off time before the match is considered a forfeit. Team captains are expected to check their teams in 10 min prior to their scheduled game time. The minimum number of players required to start a match is 3 = 1 goalkeeper and 2 field players. If the minimum is not met, the result is an automatic forfeit.
Point System A win results in 3 points, a tie results in 1 point, and a loss results in 0 point. In the case of two or more teams being tied in number of points the following criteria will be used as tie breaker: Head to head competition in common games Largest Goals Difference More goals scored Least amount of red cards Coin toss. In case a game results in a tie in the knock-out bracket stage of the tournament, the following rules apply for overtime: Golden goal rule (sudden death) will be used in the playoffs. Two 5 minute periods with golden goal. If neither team scores after two overtime periods, then teams will go into a penalty shootout.
Penalty Shootout Referee decides which goal to be used. Coin tossed to decide order. Three kicks to be taken by 3 different players selected from eligible players. Eligible players are any players who are not suspended due to a red card, including subs. Captain of each team announces these 3 players to the referee before the kicks are taken. If two teams are still tied after 3 kicks, the additional kicks will be taken on a sudden-death basis by the rest of the players who have not kicked yet. Any eligible player may change places with his goalkeeper. While the penalty shoot-out is in progress, players will remain on the opposite half of the pitch.
Schedule No requests for schedule changes will be accepted. The 2 best teams (determined by the criteria described on the point system section) of each group will qualify to the knock-out brackets. Matches will be defined by random drawing of qualified teams. 1 5 2 7 Champions 3 6 4

For the Assisting Volunteers Reporting time for you will be 9:45am You are responsible to record the scores and time for the respective games. You have to make sure each participant has signed the liability waiver by showing his/her ID. DO NOT ALLOW people to sign in if they don’t have their ID. You will also be required to refill the water jugs throughout the duration of the tournament.
You are also responsible for cleaning up if you see any empty cups or trash on the courts. You will also be assigned to help shag balls if it goes through open spaces. Make sure to come back on time after leaving for lunch break. If you find students/players arguing with you, please report to us. You can choose to rotate your tasks among yourselves. However, make sure that all tasks are covered by someone at all times.
