Student Teaching Experience Getting the Most: Maintain journals or logs of reflections. Develop appropriate lesson plans following standards. Understand role of cooperating teacher.

Student Teaching Experience What you are judged on: Planning and Preparation Classroom Environment Instruction Professionalism Planning and Preparation: e.g. lesson plan objectives, meeting standards, teaching methods used, resources used beyond text, interdisciplinary elements, clear lesson conclusion (closure procedure), differentiation, criteria for assessment and so on. Classroom Environment: e.g. anticipatory set and activating prior knowledge (i.e. arousing curiosity), receptiveness and response of the students to the teacher and lesson, teacher’s responsiveness of students and ability to be flexible. Instruction: Asking high order questions, clear and accurate communication, overall classroom management skills (i.e. maintaining general control), creativity, teaching style, achievement of objectives, and use of technology. Professionalism: Overall behavior and dress, general interest in teaching, acceptance of constructive criticism, and communication with cooperating teacher.
