Appendicular skeleton: Shoulder girdle

Shoulder girdle: Also known as the pectoral girdle Made up of the clavicle and scapula

Clavicle: The collarbone-helps prevent shoulder dislocation-very important for bracing the shoulder Has a medial and lateral end Most commonly broken bone

Scapula: Shoulder blades Connects upper limbs to the axial skeleton Only connection is with the sternoclavicular joint-so the upper extremities are very flexible but can be dislocated easily Supported and controlled by muscles

Scapula structures: Acromion Coracoid process Glenoid cavity Scapular spine Superior angle Inferior angle Vertebral arch Superior border Axillary border
