What is it? Your Game Design Document (GDD) must consist of three sections: Concept Paper Design Document Game Proposal Each section should demonstrate a clearly defined vision for the game and an understanding of the market and audience for this game. Where relevant, you should provide examples of similar games in the genre.

CONCEPT PAPER The concept paper is a general overview of the project, its direction and key details. It should set out your general intentions for the game.

Introduction (include the title, genre, theme, setting, unique elements) Title: “Make Sense?” Genre: Sci-Fi or Science Fiction and Strategy. Theme: Science Type of theme with the brain. Setting: Inside the Human’s Head Unique Elements: Create Frustration and unpredictable-ness.

Background Ludo Monopoly (outline other relevant products, such as films based on the intellectual property, licenses, sequels, influences of similar games) Monopoly Ludo https://static.rogerebert.com/uploads/movie/movie_poster/jumanji-1995/large_vzmL6fP7aPKNKPRTFnZmiUfciyV.jpg https://www.windowscentral.com/sites/wpcentral.com/files/styles/larger/public/field/image/2016/05/Ludo-Blitz-Game.jpg?itok=S_fOqAkf https://images.sftcdn.net/images/t_optimized,f_auto/p/7b57f15c-96d3-11e6-93ef-00163ed833e7/2027635592/monopoly-screenshot.jpg

Description (describe the game as if to players, using general terms: what will they do, how they will play – define the user experience) You are what defines a sense in the human body, but for some weird reason, you suddenly lost them. You must move your five senses to the middle of the board where the brain is located FIRST to WIN, before the others BEAT YOU to it. At the beginning of the game, you must roll two dice. You’ll need to get a double, so you would be able to get one of your five counters on the board. Then you only use a die to go around the board, whilst avoiding the trap that will cause you set backs and potential frustration!

Key features (the unique features that set the game apart from others) The Key Features of “Make Sense?” has: Frustration because of the traps on the board. Potential Arguments (maybe). More luck based game.

Genre (describe the genre and feel, using key words and examples of other games, e.g. “Speedball 2 is a futuristic cyberpunk sports game - a brutal mix of handball and ice hockey placed at break-neck pace.”) “A mixture of Ludo and Cranium which is a strategy, science fiction and slightly sci-fi twist type of game.”

DESIGN DOCUMENT The design document provides specific details of key game elements.

Story (detail the story, setting and goal of the game) Brief Story You suddenly lost your senses and you want to get them back. There’s only one brain in the middle. You must be the first to get them back before the others. Does it “Make Sense?”

Characters and Enemies (describe key characters and enemies; provide illustrative art work – this can be sourced online but must adhere to copyright law) You (Character) and also Enemies or opponents

Gameplay (objectives; explain rules; character abilities; weapons; power-ups; upgrades; obstacles; enemy behaviour) 1. At the beginning of the game, use the dice to roll any double to place your counter (one of the five counters) on the board 2. Only use one of the five senses on the board that represent counters 3. Use a die when you have your own counter on the board 4. When you land on the trap, look at the symbols because each symbol has specific effects for specific senses. You must go around the board and then go to the pathway towards the brain in the middle of the board. These symbols and what they mean:

Blindness: This is the trap for your sight counter ( ) on the board Blindness: This is the trap for your sight counter ( ) on the board. When you land on it, it’ll send you back at the beginning, due to not knowing where you’re going.   Temporary Deaf-ness: This is the trap for you hearing counter ( ) on the board. If you land on it, you will be sent back at the beginning, similar effect to Blindness. Sharp Object: This is the trap that can take effect with your touch counter ( ). This will take effect when you land on it and it’ll send you back at the beginning. Smoke: It’s a type of trap that only effects your smell counter ( ). When landed on, you will be sent back at the beginning due to panic of fire. Marmite: Who likes marmite? If not, you’re still going to hate it because it will affect your taste counter ( ). It will send you back at the beginning.
