Presentation transcript:

Study of pain syndrome within palliative care cancer patients in Mongolia Nyam-Od Galsanjamts, MD1, Odontuya Davaasuren MD, PhD, Prof2, Munguntsetseg Lamjav, MD3 Aim: Study of pain within palliative care (PC) cancer patients in Mongolia Methodology: Randomized study of 988 cancer PC patients in the PC department of the NCC and Grace hospice in Mongolia to assess the incidence, score, type, location of pain, and its correlation with cancer Conclusion: In Mongolia 79.1% of PC cancer patients had pain. Liver cancer is main (40.8%) cancer in Mongolia, which caused mostly mild –moderate (97.5%), nociceptive (99%) pain. Results: Study of 988 cancer PC patients shows, that 782 (79.1%) patients had pain, 206 (20.9%) - had no pain. 100% of patients had chronic and constant pain, 84 (10.7%) - neuropathic pain, 680 (61.1%) - nociceptive pain, 220 (28.2%) - mixed pain. 194 (24.8%) patients had mild pain, 526 (67.35%) - moderate pain and 62 (7.9%) - severe pain. Liver, stomach, lung, esophageal cancers are main cancers in Mongolia. 404 (40.8 %) patients had liver cancer. Within liver cancer patients 10 (2.47%) patients had severe (1-10) pain, 97.5% had mild and moderate pain. Within liver cancer patients 4 (1%) patients had neuropathic pain, 99% had nociceptive pain. Pain type and pain score correlated (r=0.66, P0≤.002) with cancer type and location. Contact details: Dr .
