TOOLS Quick Selection tool allows us to paint an area. Magic wand tool selects continuous area.

Select/ Deselect To select all in your canvas go to select > All To get rid of the “dancing” or “marching” ants in Photoshop on a mac go to Select > Deselect (Command+D)

Layer Styles Click on the style palette next to the color and swatches on the right of your screen. You can add a new layer style by selecting the layer and clicking on the icon in the layer style palette. (next to the trash can)

Characters To change the scale of the text go to window > character. Leading is the space between the lines. Scaling characters are percentages.

Soft Proof To proof your image go to view> proof colors or view> proof setup> working CMYK Soft proofing your image allows you to see what an image will look like when its printed.

Soft Proof CS4, you can soft proof something by clicking on View>Soft Proof In CS5/CS6 you can soft proof something by clicking on View> Proof Setup> Working CMYK.

IMAGE ADJUSTMENTS To convert an Image to Black & White click Image>Adjustments>Black & White To lighten/darken an image>adjustments>Brightness and Contrast

Hue/Saturation Increase hue/saturation go to image>adjustment>hue/saturation Hue is the color Saturation is how much color

UNSHARP MASK Sharpen the edges by going to FILTER>Sharpen>UNSHARP mask This is nondestructive (will not change/alter/damage an image) Change the Amount, radius, threshold ONLY if you are given amounts to change
