Needs Assessment 1 New employee class currently offered. New Employee Training is to broad. Need to implement an additional training course 1 New employee class currently offered. New employee classes offered every Tuesday Covers general information and company history Baderman currently offers a generic class every Tuesday for new employees. The class covers general information regarding basic company information and history. Releasing employees to begin working with such limited information could result in poor performance, frustration, and higher turnover rates. Baderman needs to offer an additional training class that would cover other vital employee information. This class would need to be tailored to fit the needs of the employees regarding software applications that are used on the job and cash operations for employees who handle money. Instructional Plan Template | Slide 2

Instructional Goal Students will be able to manage, create, evaluate, and self assess the computer aspects of their new position with Baderman Management group. This includes reserving rooms and conventions, processing payments and refunds, as well as accessing employee documents, interoffice e-mail, and marketing tools. Instructional Plan Template | Slide 3

Performance-Based Objectives Students will develop skills needed to implement software programs for their new position at Baderman Management Group comfortably while maintaining an 80% average on course assignments. 2) Students will utilize skills acquired by maintaining 95% accuracy with all computer transactions and scheduling monthly. The first objective will be assessed continually throughout the course. If a student falls below the above average they will have 1 week to raise their grade prior to termination. By doing this Baderman Management Group continually screens the ability level of their new employees. “Constant comparison of the goals and objectives will make the final instructional product truly useful” (Brown & Greene, 2006.) The second performance-based objective allows Baderman Management Group to continually assess the level of integrity, knowledge, and skills of their employees. Instructional Plan Template | Slide 4

Summative Assessment and Learning Outcomes Assessment Goal #1: Students will complete a computerized simulation and earn an 80% or higher. The simulation will include payments, refunds, booking rooms and conventions, accessing email, employee documents, and creating marketing materials. Assessment Goal #2: Students will be formally evaluated to see if they are maintaining a 95% accuracy after 3 months of employment. To protect Baderman’s best interest the summative assessment has been split into 2 parts The first assessment is to ensure that new employees do not enter the actual position without having the necessary knowledge to perform their job duties efficiently. The second assessment goal is to ensure that employees are progressing with their accuracy after remaining on the job for 3 months. Should a student fall behind on either goal Baderman reserves the right to terminate their employment or to put them on a growth plan as needed. Instructional Plan Template | Slide 5

Learner Characteristics Implications New Employees 18 years and older Minimum of a High School Diploma Variety of Cultural Backgrounds Self Directed Computer Savvy Low turnover rate Ability to utilize the program effectively Ability to continue progressing after leaving the classroom By hiring new employees that meet all of the above criteria Baderman increases the chances that new employees will successfully complete the training program. Pre-screening employees also creates a staff that can easily be cross trained to help out in other departments using the same online format. This also helps to reduce the amount of turnover the company experiences because Baderman prescreens its applicants based on the above characteristics. Instructional Plan Template | Slide 6

Learning Context Instructional Setting Application Development of Instructional Plan Instructional Setting Learning Context Instructional Setting The instructional setting will be a hybrid model consisting of an in class facilitator and the majority of the learning occurring online. The hybrid model will allow for added structure and support for new hires while allowing for creative methods of online learning. Resources needed include the facilitator, small room with 5 – 7 computers networked to the training simulator that will accompany the class objectives. The main constraint for this program is the money available to purchase additional computers and facilitator. Application “Many of the decisions affecting the success of a course take place well before the first day of class” (Eberly Center for Teaching Excellance, 2013.) Following the application of the course will have a direct influence on the success of the program. The new hire course will need to be concise as well as in depth in order to achieve the results needed with an open and comfortable learning environment for both the facilitator and the new students. To achieve this the syllabus and scope and sequence will be written to ensure the applicants have the proper training in all of the computer application simulations as discussed in previous slides. The facilitator will need to use his/ her time effectively to ensure the instruction is diverse and engaging when students are not working on a simulated problems. Instruction methods will include: lectures, paired group work, discussions, case studies, virtual problems, independent and dependent projects, and written assignments. Time is going to be a major constraint in this class because the new employees will need to be trained and working in a short amount of time to reduce the overall cost of training. To help ensure this happens employees will work for completion status on various levels and as they complete levels they will be able to perform additional job duties and therefore gain more hours of employment. How does information about the learning context used in developing the instructional plan? Understanding the learning context helps to develop the instructional plan because it aligns both the learning goals and the performance based objectives. The context also forces one to assess the necessary tools, resources, and constraints needed to allow the instruction to take place. Having a fantastic plan that is not feasible is a waste of time and money, in a sense making the context similar to the business plan for a new entrepreneur. Instructional Plan Template | Slide 7

PART II Template Instructions Please read before proceeding with this section!! For your Week Five assignment, you will complete the development and implementation phase of ADDIE. Part II – Development and Implementation of Instruction Complete the following sections: Delivery Modality – slide 11 Instructional Strategies – slide 12 Plan for Implementation – slide 13 Instructional Resources – slide 14 Formative Assessment – slide 15 Note: You may add additional slides if necessary. Instructional Plan Template | Slide 8

Delivery Modality (After reading the information below, delete and insert your information.) Based on the learning context and learner characteristics, list and describe the most effective method of delivery such as an instructor-led course, a Web-based tutorial, an asynchronous learning environment, a synchronous learning environment, podcasts, a Web-based conference, video taped instruction, etc. Instructional Plan Template | Slide 9

Instructional Strategies (After reading the information below, delete and insert your information.) The overall plan governing the instructional content (the information to be taught) and process (how will it be taught). Select instructional strategies that will be used to facilitate instruction, and explain the main concepts that the learner will need to understand in order to master this topic. Instructional Plan Template | Slide 10

Plan for Implementation (After reading the information below, delete and insert your information.) This section defines the timelines for the actual implementation of instruction and actual delivery of the instruction. This includes the delivery dates for either a classroom, online, or Web-based instruction and the amount of time it will take learners to complete the course (e.g.,1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, etc.). Individuals and materials involved (e.g., facilitator, learners, copies of materials, activities, etc.) must be prepared. Define how you will implement your plan, including the specifics of who will be involved as part of the implementation, what resources are needed to implement your plan, where will the instruction be implemented, when the instruction will be implemented (e.g., weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly), and how your plan will be implemented (e.g., How you will communicate the plan, how you will build interest and commitment, how will you select your participants?). Instructional Plan Template | Slide 11

Instructional Resources (After reading the information below, delete and insert your information.) Within this section, describe the materials that will be necessary to implement the instructional plan. (e.g., computer, whiteboard, hardware/software, manipulatives, and supplemental materials).
