Workshop 1: Developing considerations for future activities of ENAR

Workshop 1 (dynamics): Start with a small individual presentation (group of 13 persons) First part of workshop: discussions about general issues that concern the anti-racism movement Possibility of exchanging information between the participants of the workshop

Topics discussed: Citizenship Vs. nationality: the ideal of European citizenship / equality in national laws / revocation of citizenship; Human rights Vs. security/control; “Old immigrant” Vs “new immigrant”; National stories - how can we re/build national identities to include diversity; Social acceptance of overt discrimination.

Expertise Expertise on issues related to: ethnic minorities (and also language minorities) Roma litigation

Strategies Identification of key issues a) vertical: ethnic/colour discrimination, anti-semitism & islamophobia, Roma discrimination, minority discrimination b) horizontal: legislative & policy tools.

Strategies Consultation, awareness raising, policy formulation & lobbying at the European level. NGO/civil society capacity building in new EU member states (getting to know the new states, the new balancing resource allocation)
