Content standardisation SDMX Information model Content standardisation IT Infrastructure

SDMX IT infrastructure Defined in the standard specifications Supporting tools for implementing SDMX Common API Web service Interfaces Joint work between standard sponsors and implementers Created by the Sponsors or private companies to foster the implementation

SDMX IT infrastructure Like SDMX-Converter Supporting tools for implementing SDMX Converter tools Like SDMX Registries or Data Structure Wizard Metadata related tools Like SDMX Reference Infrastructure Data dissemination tools

SDMX Reference infrastructure Set of tools that can be re-used partially or completely by any organisation interested in starting SDMX projects for data exchange and dissemination. Based on the technical specifications of the SDMX standards SDMX-RI

SDMX Reference infrastructure Used to expose data to third parties in SDMX-ML format Can map dissemination DBs to SDMX structures Provides tools to browse the statistical data

SDMX Reference infrastructure - History Created to be used in the 2011 European Census project Originally designed as a set of building blocks implementing SDMX 2.0 standards

SDMX Reference infrastructure - Evolution National accounts SDMX 2.0 Architecture based on common API Agriculture Component based architecture Reused in other statistical domains by some countries New version of the SDMX RI Integrated by other organisations Creation for the CENSUS 2011 Installations in ESS NSIs for CENSUS 2011 2015

SDMX Reference infrastructure - Future Incorporate new file formats New use cases Collaboration in the development and maintenance of the infrastructure with other organisations

SDMX Reference infrastructure future – New formats for exchange Exchange based in SDMX-ML New format based in JSON has been defined by the SDMX Technical Working Group It will be incorporated to the SDMX Reference Infrastructure

SDMX Reference infrastructure future – New use cases SDMX-RI at the core of the new dissemination chain of Eurostat SDMX-RI to be used for the exchange of confidential data Extension of the pull method for data-sharing initiatives

SDMX Reference infrastructure future – Enhance collaboration SDMX-RI developed by Eurostat but used and extended by other organisations (ISTAT, INEGI, OECD) Eurostat and interested organisations working together to share development activities Collaboration platform being set-up by Eurostat (Source code repository, wiki, issue tracking tool …)

Future of SDMX Infrastructure - Conclusions SDMX infrastructure is mature and it is being used in different production processes (Census HUB, National accounts …) New uses cases are developing, further developments are expected Collaboration between different organisations is key to enhance the infrastructure and extend its usage

How the SDMX IT infrastructure can help you to improve the data collection and dissemination? Do you see additional use cases for the SDMX IT infrastructure?
