Introducing your 3rd Grade Teachers Ms. Dotson Ms. Costley (Ms. Soto) Ms. Williams Mrs. Robinson Ms. Thompson

School Hours School Hours: 7:30 A.M.-2:40 P.M. Tardy Bell: 7:40 A.M. School opens at 7:00 A.M. They will wait by their classroom door until 7:15. Students will enter the room and read quietly. If a student arrives after 7:40 A.M. tardy bell, they must stop by the office and their parent must sign them in to receive a tardy slip.

Dress Code No short shorts, spaghetti straps, exposed or sheer backs, tank shirts, or excessively frayed jeans. Leggings are not to be worn as pants. We highly encourage tennis shoes for PE.

Agenda Books Students are to copy the homework for each subject on a daily basis. Agenda books will come home daily for parents to review and sign. Please sign at the bottom of each day to indicate that you are aware of your child’s homework and that they have completed their reading and math practice.

Be Aware The transition from second to third grade is significant. The work is more difficult and grades may reflect this.

Homework Students are required to read for 20 minutes daily. On the first day of the week, students will be given a homework packet to complete and turn in by the following Friday. Students are to study math facts for 10 minutes daily. Homework will be written in the agenda daily. Additional homework may be given. It is the student’s responsibility to get their homework done.

Binder Binders will come home on the first day of the week for parents to review and sign. Papers are to remain in the binder until the end of the semester. Late work may not be redone. All redo work is due the Wednesday before each progress report.

Grading Policy Daily Grades- if a grade below 70 is earned, it can be corrected for a grade up to a 70. However, ALL corrections must be completed & correct! Test Grades- if a grade below 70 is earned, the test can be corrected for a grade up to a 70. All corrections must be completed and correct! Late Work: up to 20% will be deducted from the total grade. All work is expected to be turned in on time. Progress Reports- sent at week 3 for grades below 70 and at week 6 for all students.

Study Hall Students who are missing classwork, or need to redo work, will have an opportunity to complete work in class. Study Hall is every Friday.

Communication Progress Reports will be sent home at 3 weeks (for grades below a 75 or behavioral concerns) & 6 weeks. Report Cards will go home every 9 weeks. Teacher Web/ NEISD Website Classroom Newsletter can be found on teacher’s website. Classroom Dojo

Communication Send a note with your child/Agenda Email / Voicemail Conferences Period: 9:40-10:30 Teachers are also after school by appointment. Emails and Dojo communication will be checked/ answered during conference time or after school only. We do not want to take away from learning by responding during instruction time.

Attendance *Please call office at 407-7000 if your child will be absent *Please send a note with your child when they return after being absent *Dojo Messages or Emails are NOT accepted for a transportation change or absences.

Parent Portal Check grades Receive alerts on grade assignments, food service accounts, and immunizations. View attendance, checked out library books, and discipline referrals. Must register for access on NEISD website.

Volunteers Volunteers will be able to re-apply online to reactivate their volunteer account. Your activation is good for 2 years, so if you did it last year you are good for this year. To obtain a VIN number go to www.neisd.net and click on “Volunteers/Partners” in the red Parents tab. Parents must be DPS cleared in order to attend field trips.

Going Home… Your child MUST bring a written notice to school if they are going home in a way other than how they normally go home. Dojo Messages or Emails are NOT accepted for a transportation change or absences. If you need to inform me or your child they will be going home a different way, and you have not provided a note, please call and speak with someone in the office prior to 2 p.m. (Email and Dojo messages are not sufficient). If a bus eligible child plans to go home with another child, the district form is provided at http://www.neisd.net/trans/busridepermissionslip.htm . A link is provided on each teacher's home web page for your convenience.

Birthdays Celebrations may begin at 2:20 p.m. Food must be store bought with a label of ingredients and not be temperature sensitive. Remember to include any paper products. Parents are not able to accompany treats to the classroom.

Legal Documents If you have any legal paperwork regarding court orders for your child, please provide a copy to our Data Processor or Administration in the front office. If you have a child returning to our campus from last year, please make the current classroom teacher aware of the court orders on file.
