English Writing Letters of Complaint
The structure of your paragraphs. P.1.Explain why you are writing.. P.2. Describe the problem and possible causes. p.3.Explain how you have tried to deal with the problem. P.4. Say what you want the reader to do to correct the situation.
Layout of your letter In the top, right-hand corner write the sender´s address and date. Below your address but on the left-hand side write the recipient´s name and address. On the left hand side, on a line by itself, write your salutation. Write your paragraph but indent or miss a line to indicate the beginning of each paragraph. On a line by itself write your closing and add your signature.
Salutation and endings. If you know the name of the person you are addressing start your letter Dear Ms Hill (using title and surname only). If you address the person by name you can end by saying Yours Sincerely, and then signing your name.
Salutation and ending If you do not know the recipient´s name write Dear and then the position. For example, Dear Headmaster, Dear Manager and so on. If you do not know the title you can write Dear Sir or Madam. If you do not know the recipient´s name you should end your letter Yours Faithfully and then sign your name.
