Full-Day Kindergarten in LCPS Brief History & Current Status November 12, 2014

FDK - Virginia Of the 132 school divisions in the Commonwealth, 129 have full-day Kindergarten programs.

LCPS FDK Regional FDK began in 2001 Head Start STEP Early Childhood “A program located at one site serving students from three targeted Pre-K populations from many schools within the same geographic area” Head Start STEP Early Childhood Special Education

Regional FDK Locations 2014-15 Round Hill John W Tolbert, Jr Catoctin Newton-Lee Countryside Cedar Lane

Title I FDK Locations 2014-15 “Full-day kindergarten services provided to all K students residing in the attendance zones of Title I schools” Sugarland Rolling Ridge Sully Guilford

ELL Hybrid Full-Day K Service Level 1 & 2 ELL students may receive an additional ½ day of K instruction from an ELL teacher to supplement their ½ day in the general education setting. Currently serving 495 students

ELL FDK Service at Title I Schools All ELL students at four Title I schools receive full-day kindergarten instruction in the general education setting with support from ELL-certified personnel. Currently serving 298 ELL K students

ELL Students Served at Regional Sites Any ELL student residing in the geographic attendance areas being served that qualified or would have qualified for Head Start, STEP or ECSE Currently serving 79 ELL K students

75.5% of ELL K students receive a form of FDK service
