Web Design and Development Testing, Evaluation & Legal

Learning Intention I will learn how to test and evaluate a website.

Website Testing When testing a website we need to check the following: website matches the design pages on the website are consistent * * fonts and colours, page layout, balance of text and other media, navigation features

Website Testing When testing a website we need to check the following: links and navigation work correctly media (text, graphics, video and audio) display/play correctly

Website Evaluation A completed website needs to be evaluated to see if it is fit for purpose. This means does it meet the Functional requirements? End-user requirements? Need to check the results of your testing too.

Website Evaluation E.g. The functional requirements included a navigation bar. My original design said the bar would run down the side of the page. I was only able to make one work across the top of the page. So my website meets the functional requirements (it has a navigation bar) but is not correct in terms of the position of the bar.

Copyright, Designs and Patents Act (1988) Makes it illegal to engage in software piracy as follows: make unauthorised copies of software which is copyright protected send software over a network and copy it without permission of the license holder run unauthorised copies of software on a computer or network

Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 Protects the owner’s rights over web content such as text, graphics, video and audio.

Success Criteria I can describe and give examples of what to test on a website I can evaluate a website with respect to its fitness for purpose
