Osnovna škola Bartola Kašića Vinkovci Erasmus+ 2016-2018 Young Enterprising Europeans VISIT TO A BEEKEEPER October 2017

A group of pupils and teachers visited OPG Grgić (family agricultural business), which was founded in 2007. Ivan and Rahela Grgić studied apiculture at the Faculty of Agriculture and decided to work in the family business. They produce 5000 -10000kg of honey a year. Beehives are transported from Ilok to Hrvatska Kostajnica (almost 300km) to collect honey and pollen from different plants.

Mr and Mrs Grgić grow queen bees for their needs and for sale.

Bee brush- bees must be brushed off the comb before putting it into the honey extractor.

Honey extractors manual: 4 frames automatic: 8 frames

OPG Grgić produces diferent kinds of honey and other products, like propolis, bee pollen, royal jelly, cosmetics. Products are sold in Vinkovci, Zagreb, some shops in Croatian towns at the Adriatic coast. Mr Grgić sells products at fairs throughout the country.

The young couple works very hard and their high-quality products got numerous prizes at national and international competitions.
