Active Language Learning Active learning is experiential, mindful, and engaging. Through it you can explore a set of learning experiences that can be more effective and interesting, and you can take more responsibility for your education. This is especially critical in an online environment where you may not even meet your teacher or fellow students. Begin by defining content (what to study) and establishing your objectives (what to learn). Next read! Do your research. Then build a foundation of activities that can help you learn, and communicate what you have learned. Some may not be interesting to you; some a nice fit with your preferred learning style(s). Active learning is experiential, mindful, and engaging.

1. Is there a difference between a language coach, tutor and a language teacher? 2. Are there any exact activities that teachers should do with students to convert them into more effective and self-determining language learners? 1. What is the difference between a language coach and a language teacher? 2. Can language teaching be combined with language coaching? 3. What specific activities can teachers do with their students to transform them into more effective and independent language learners? 4. What do you now know about language learning and coaching that you wish you knew when you first started?

What is the transformation between a language coach, tutor and a language teacher?

Disadvantages of Traditional Classroom Learning students are made to sit passively while the instructor provides a session. too much demonstration, short period remaining for practice instructor's session is generally one-size-fit-all Language is studied, not practiced Disadvantages of Traditional Classroom Learning students are made to sit passively while the instructor provides a session. Not centered around student motivators Language is studied, not practiced A instructor's session is generally one-size-fit-all. Not every undergraduate has the same speed of studying. While some students can follow the instructor's session with comfort, most of the others require a chance to chow on the information that they are getting. Also, each undergraduate has a different studying style. Making the difference Teacher’s role is to be a learning coach, mentor and a source of support as well as inspiration. The teachers should be facilitators, often proposing students new tools and helping them to be in control of their language learning. This way students can become independent, mindful learners.

Students should become active learners. Having knowledge about new methods, students should become active learners. Firstly, teachers’ goals should be focused on establishing the tools and understanding how to be accustomed on lifelong language learning. Secondly, teachers should look into the role of a coach/mentor and get learner/teacher in integration with students. Education needs to be focused on teaching students how to learn a new language, as well as tutoring on how to learn the language online and in the community. Online education will continue to develop, but classroom teaching will also continue on improving at the same pace.
