Chapter 1 Manage your learning General Objectives: After reading the chapter, you should be able to answer the questions asked in the following slides. Create questions using SQ3R method on each heading and subheading; Make short notes (outline/mind-map); and answer the question in the following slides.

Themes: OUM learning approaches (self-managed learning, face-to-face and online learning) OUM facilities: Learner service center, digital library, OUM website. Coping with learning techniques: Managing stress, goal setting, motivational strategies, time management, and concentration. Personal Learning styles

Questions to Practice with session objectives 1. What are the two main symptoms of stress? 2. Explain two main characteristics of the blended leaning approach used by ODL learners at OUM. 3. Explain Four basic strategies that open distance learner can use to motivate himself/herself for successful learning. 4. Describe Four learning strategies that a visual learner can use to maximize his/her learning.

5. Explain four strategies that will help you to motivate yourself for your learning. 6. How would you remember important concepts in your course content? Explain four tips that will help you to remember important facts.

7. Time management is important for your personal life, learning and career success. It teaches you how to manage your time effectively and make the most of it. Explain in detail five (5) advantages of managing your time and how do you manage your time effectively. Please include appropriate examples or illustrations in your answer.
