Why did New Netherlands have a diverse population?

Dutch They establish New Netherlands Had the best harbors Established trade No missionary effort to convert Natives. They had their own governments. Governor + advisory council Why weren’t Dutch colonies large?

New Sweden Swedes were able to adapt to America quickly. 500 Swedish colonists try to establish a colony. Overrun by the Dutch.

How did the Dutch take over New Sweden? Answer: Dutch Governor, Peter Stuyvesant, appeared with 7 warships and forced a surrender

Quakers They believed in direct, personal communication with God; they had no ministers or hierarchy of priests and bishops. They had simple meetings where their members rose to speak. They believed in the equality of all men and women. They were pacifists who refused to fight in wars.
