Learning Outcomes Participants will understand importance of self-care for educators/advisors. Participants will be able to demonstrate creative self-care practices Participants will identify “self-care accountability partners”

What is Self-Care? Increasing your own well-being through self-care behaviors What does it mean to you? Do you feel as if self-care as an advisor is important? If so, why?

Why Do We Need Self-Care? Academic Advisors Role: Ender, Winston, and Miller (1984, p. 19) defined developmental academic advising as “a systematic process based on a close student-advisor relationship intended to aid students in achieving educational, career, and personal goals through the utilization of the full range of institutional and community resources.” Fostering self care and creativity plays a vital role in developing as a professional to nurture mutually beneficial advising relationships. It is important to professional stability and growth This job can be very demanding and overwhelming
