Shape and One Point Perspective Project

Step 1: Make a 3-D Box out of Poster Board First: Draw a 9 inch line horizontally at the top of your poster board. USE A RULER AND MAKE SURE YOUR LINE IS STRAIGHT!! MEASUREMENTS AND STRAIGHT LINES ARE VERY IMPORTANT FOR THIS PROJECT!!!!

Step 2: 1-Place your ruler at the top left corner of the line you just drew and draw a 29 inch straight line vertically going down. 2-Repeat on right side. 3-Connect Lines by drawing a line horizontally. Should also measure 9 inches long.

Step 3: Place your ruler again at the top left side of your rectangle going downward. At 12 inches put a DOT. Then place your ruler horizontally again at the top left corner, measure 2 inches (going away from rectangle) and place a DOT. From that DOT measure 12 inches vertically, going downward and place another DOT. Make sure your ruler is parallel to your rectangle. Connect the Dots using a straight line. REPEAT ON OTHER SIDE.

Step 4: Place your ruler vertically, going downward at the bottom left dot of the first rectangle you made. Measure 2 inches and place a dot. Repeat on other side. Connect those dots. Making a 2x9 inch retangle.

Step 5: Place your ruler vertically at the lowest dot on the left side of your rectangle. Measure down 12 more inches and place a dot. Repeat on other side. Connect dots with a horizontal line.

Step 6: Mark a DOT at the bottom of your line on both sides. SHOULD measure 2 inches on both sides and 9 inches across. Go back and check all your measurements. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT MEASUREMENTS ARE CORRECT AND LINES ARE STRAIGHT AND PARALLEL.

Step 7: Making the Box CUT IT OUT! FOLD ALONG LINES AND TAPE TO CREATE YOUR BOX.

Step 8: Choose you Color Family PICK A COLOR FAMILY OF YOUR CHOICE to use throughout the project.

Step 9: Cover Box Cover the Front of you Box in STRIPS of Magazine that match you COLOR FAMILY. The STRIPS should alternate in color, and FILL the entire space.

Step 10: Make your 1-Point Perspective What you need: 5 Squares, can vary in size. Nothing smaller than 1x1 inches. On a plane white sheet of paper. Draw your Horizon Line, Vanishing Point, your 5 Squares wherever to choose to place them, and your Perspective Lines (between 4-7 inches long) YOU DO NOT have to cut it out!

Step 11: Trace your 1 point perspective drawing with tracing paper. Then lay your tracing paper onto your cardboard and trace your drawing completely.

Step 12: Paint your Perspective drawing once it is on the cardboard. Alternate colors to show different areas, such as the square and its different perspective lines. CHOOSE PAINT COLORS BASED OFF COLOR FAMILY YOU CHOSE FOR THE PROJECT AND STRIPS OF PAPER. Use paint to also paint the sides of your box. ONE COLOR for all for sides. You do not need to paint the back.

Step 13: Once your perspective drawing is dry. Cut it out.

Step 14: Cut out mini cardboard squares and tape to the back of your perspective drawing to make them lift off your box. Make sure they are the same height and in the appropriate places to support your drawing.

Step 15: LAST STEP TOGETHER WITH MS. D GLUE YOU PERSPECTIVE DRAWING TO YOUR BOX. MAKE SURE YOUR PAINT IS DRY!!
