WINTER PRACTICUM Continue to check your email for last minute changes Report placement changes right away (e.g., teacher, grade, email address) Follow the Overall Expectations outlined for Feb. 19-Mar. 23 Final Report written by AT due on March 23rd

PRACTICUM HANDBOOK Photo identification – If lost, purchase a new one at Print Plus. Contact your associate teacher – What’s going on in the classroom? Active Observation (p. 9) – Engage, assist, be involved! Practicum Binder (p. 7-8) – Have it with you & keep it organized. Lesson Planning (p. 10) – Full lesson planning is required. Other School Related Responsibilities (p. 10) – Extra-curricular activities, PD days, staff meetings, duty schedule Absence from practicum (p. 6) Snow days (p. 7)

YOUR FACULTY ADVISOR Respond to your FA’s emails/phone calls in a timely manner Visits will begin the week of February 26th for those who were not seen in the fall FAs will expect to see your Practicum Binder & Lesson Plans FA will observe at least one lesson – Plan a lesson that highlights your skills FA will spend time with you afterwards to debrief– arrange for a quiet place to meet Work together to complete your Practicum Goal Setting Form (p. 22, Handbook) Contact your FA immediately if you begin to experience difficulty

PRACTICUM II - REGISTRATION Practicum Registration - Due March 9th Most people will get their first choice, but please be prepared to live in any of the boards you select Local school boards are in very high demand (approx. 50 spots) If selecting Toronto D.S.B., please indicate your preferred Wards using the link to the system wide map provided (choose at least 3) If selecting Peel D.S.B., please indicate your top three families of schools using the link provided Preferred area is provided to the school board but IS NOT GURANTEED – be prepared to travel

PRACTICUM II – REIGSTRATION CONTINUED If you are interested in completing your year two, term two placement in one of the following boards: Burkevale Protestant School Moose Factory Ministik School Moosonee Public School Nbisiing Secondary School Northern Lights Secondary School Please indicate that at the bottom of the form under additional comments. We still require three other board choices for term one. Availability of placements in these areas is limited. Students must be in good academic standing to be considered.

POLICE VULNERABLE SECTOR CHECK Begin the application process on May 1st Due September 18th We don’t need to see the original – bring us a copy when you return to campus in the fall Toronto, Toronto Catholic, and Peel – follow instructions provided over the summer

HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS Updated information will be posted to the website over the summer – we will email you to notify you when this is complete. You all completed the 4-Step MOL training in year one. You will be required to repeat it. Board requirements are constantly changing – we will notify you of changes ASAP. If assigned to the same school board, you may be required to repeat your training.
