Presentation transcript:

What is English Language? English is a West Germanic language that was first spoken in early medieval England and is now a global lingua franca. English has developed over the course of more than 1,400 years. The earliest forms of English, a set of Anglo-Frisian dialects brought to Great Britain by Anglo-Saxon settlers in the 5th century, are called Old English. Middle English began in the late 11th century with the Norman conquest of England, and was a period in which the language was influenced by French. Through the worldwide influence of the British Empire, modern English spread around the world from the 17th to mid- 20th centuries. English is the third most widespread native language in the world, after Standard Chinese and Spanish. Mobile No | - |

That's because English verbs, nouns and adjectives don't have endings.  There is almost no declension and no conjugation in the English language which makes it much easier for someone who is learning the language to form simple sentences that are grammatically correct.  Most words in English have several meanings. This can be an advantage for learners as you can convey different meanings using the same word in a different context. On the other hand this might cause confusion especially for beginners.
