Welcome to the Oregon Youth Authority OYA's most important charge is to protect the public and hold youth offenders accountable for their behavior. Our greatest challenge is to continue to improve our treatment, education, and job training services to provide youth with the opportunity to learn personal responsibility and develop skills to make positive choices for themselves.

About OYA The Oregon Youth Authority is the state juvenile corrections agency. OYA incarcerates youth who cannot safely live in the community, and provides supervision and treatment opportunities to youth offenders in all 36 Oregon counties. OYA exercises legal and physical custody over youth offenders who commit offenses between the ages of 12 and 18 and have been committed to the OYA by county juvenile courts. Youth offenders may remain in OYA's legal and physical custody up to age 25. OYA is committed to providing gender and culturally responsive services for young men and women committed to our care and custody.

Facility Services Secure and transitional environments that ensure public safety and provide accountability and reformation opportunities to youth who represent an unacceptable risk in the community. Eleven facilities located in communities across Oregon. Eleven facilities located in communities across Oregon. Provide the highest level of security and range in size and function. Provide a continuum of evidence based services established to prepare youth for return to the community with a lower risk to re-offend. Youth generally live in units of 25 youth, with many of the reformation and treatment activities conducted in units.

Community Services Provide public safety, youth accountability and reformation through partnerships and utilizing best practices. Case management supervision by parole and probation officers supported by a graduated series of community-based responses and services. Provide 40 contracted staff-secure and transitional community residential services system programs statewide for youth offenders who cannot remain in their own homes based on their risk to re- offend. Provide family foster care placement option for youth offenders in an environment certified by the OYA. Foster care is a planned and time-limited alternative living arrangement for youth in the absence of a viable family resource.
