Which wheel moves the car? A question everyone is curious to know.

An all-wheel drive provides power to all its wheels, whether full- time or on-demand.

4Matic is an all-wheel drive which works to engage all four wheels of the car.

4Matic is the brainchild of Mercedes-Benz AMG.

How is it different from others?

It adapts precisely to the grip at each wheel which gives you safety & luxury at the same time.

4matic makes the car lighter, nimble & efficient, providing a great driving experience even on dry roads.

It is one of the reasons due to which a Mercedes-Benz AMG SUV delivers genuinely sporty handling.

4Matic provides stability to the car, for more surefooted takeoffs, even in wet conditions.

4Matic transfers torque to the wheel increasing your confidence to drive in any season.

How does it Work?

Through a center differential the engine's torque is channelled to the front & the rear wheels for sporty balance & agile handling.

When there is a change in traction, it reacts instantly & expertly to maximize control.

The 4-wheel Electronic Traction System (4-ETS) helps send power to gripping wheels if other wheels slip.

It uses the same wheel- speed sensors as the Antilock Braking System (ABS) & Electronic Stability Program (EPS).

This helps in detecting the onset of wheelspin & applies the brake rapidly at the slipping wheel.

In this way torque is sent back to the gripping wheel, which applies this engine's power to the road.

This works automatically on all four wheels.

4-ETS keeps up the momentum even if only one wheel has grip.

Conclusion

Its lightweight design & quick reflexes enhance the handling of a Mercedes- Benz in any season.

In the US it is available on more than a dozen passenger cars & SUV's & nearly 50 models around the World.

But it is currently not available in certain right- hand-drive models.
