Get Rid of Low fuel efficiency of your car

Is the rising fuel prices has started to dig holes in your pocket?

Are you thinking of buying a hybrid car? The hybrid will definitely give you good mileage but its price may further soak your wallet.

So, why not think to increase the fuel efficiency of your existing car. And the best thing is, it is in your hands to achieve by following certain do's and don'ts and that too will save you bucks.

Do's----

Replace your air filter after the specified miles in the manual as it protects your engine from ingesting dust in the air.

Change your oil and oil filter regularly, for proper lubrication of the engine which results in less fuel consumption.

Change the spark plugs after 30,000 miles as the carbon deposit may lower the cars fuel efficiency.

Maintain correct tire pressure as under-inflated tires burn more fuel due to increase in rolling resistance.

When appropriate use the Electronic Cruise control mode for better fuel consumption on the highway..

Always drive in the highest gear possible to reduce the labor on the engine and follow a fuel-efficient way of driving.

Keep the battery terminals clean as corroded battery cables put more pressure on the alternator forcing it to use more gas.

Improve the mileage by using the manufacturer's recommended grade of motor oil as thicker oil is harder to pump.

Clean the carbon deposits in fuel injectors to get an even fuel-air mix which contributes to improving the gas mileage.

Dont's----

Don't let the car idle for long because the modern engine will consume less fuel when turned off and then restarted than idling for extended periods.

Avoid heavy braking and drive smoothly by applying little throttle to reduce both fuel consumption and wear & tear.

Don't overload your car with the roof racks if not needed, as they create wind drag that increases the fuel consumption and emissions.

Avoid Revving the engine, as it only burns needless fuel and hampers the cylinder walls.

Don't change gears at high speed. Shift the gears after applying brakes for better fuel economy.

Now It's Up to you

With the rising fuel price, fuel efficiency of a car is more of a concern than just a feature.

You can boost the fuel efficiency of your car as much as 30% by simple vehicle maintenance and attention to your style of driving.
