Research Centers Center for Sensorimotor Neural Engineering Clean Energy Institute eScience Institute PacTrans Washington Nanofabrication Facility Molecular Engineering & Sciences Institute Center for Sensorimotor Neural Engineering, CSNE, a NSF-funded Engineering Research Center, known for major advancements in brain to brain communication Clean Energy Institute: Initially established by the state, now supplemented with WRF funding, the Clean Energy Institute is focused on next generation solar energy and electrical energy storage materials, devices and systems and their integration into the grid. eScience Institute: Multi-disciplinary campus-wide effort focused on the broad topic of “big data,” advancing data science research and practice. PacTrans: A coalition of transportation professionals and educators from 5 NW universities focused on safety and sustainability. Washington Nanofabrication Facility: Located in Fluke Hall, the UW’s full service micro and nanotechnology user facility, the largest public access fabrication center in the NW with 15,000 square feet of labs, cleanrooms and user space. Molecular Engineering & Sciences Institute: Brings together faculty teams from across the University of Washington campus in a state-of-the-art facility with instrumentation for molecular characterization and analysis to catalyze translational research in the Clean Tech and Biotech areas.
